This paper presents a comparative review of different ways an analog to digital converter (ADC) transfer curve is specified. This study aims at supplying the ADC user and technician with an overview of the traditional practices in this area. Several ADC test standards, namely IEEE 1057, IEEE 1241, IEC 60748 and IEC 62008, reference texts like DYNAD 3.3 and some manufacturer specifications are analyzed.
