In this paper we present data on the terahertz refractive index and absorption coefficient for ordinary and extraordinary polarization of a highly birefringent liquid crystal mixture. The data are measured using a standard terahertz time-domain spectrometer. The results show a considerably high THz birefringence of more than 0.3 and only moderate absorption. Therefore this mixture is a promising candidate...
In this paper, nematic liquid crystalline materials and its mesogenic and physicochemical properties (mainly birefringence, dielectric anisotropy, and viscosity) will be discussed. The influence of number and position of fluorosubstitution on the ability of nematic phase formation in broad temperature range and on the value and sign of dielectric anisotropy will also be demonstrated.
Temperature tunable highly-birefringent (HB) photonic liquid crystal fibers (PLCFs) based on commercially available (Blazephotonics PM-1550-01) HB photonic crystal fiber (PCF) infiltrated with nematic liquid crystals (LCs) are demonstrated. The wavelength scanning technique was used to measure group and phase birefringence along with its wavelength dependence and the method was also adapted to intermodal...
