In northeastern Poland, the chemical variation of the Cladonia chlorophaea-pyxidata group was much neglected, as TLC has not been used in delimitation of species differing in the chemistry. As a great part of herbal material of University in Bialystok from NE Poland was misidentified, I found my studies to be necessary. Based on the collection of 123 specimens deposited in Herbarium of University...
The study presents the results of lichenological researches carried out in Sokółka town (Podlaskie voivodeship, north-eastern Poland). The investigations in the area of Sokółka were carried out in the years 2012–2013, on 50 research stands. In total, 76 species of lichens growing on natural and anthropogenic substrata have been recorded. The distributions of lichens in different urban lands are presented...
The paper presents data about an interesting lichenicolous fungus Skyttea nitschkei (Körb.) Sherwood, D. Hawksw. & Coppins reported for the first time from Poland. Material described was collected by the author in 2014 in the Augustów Forest on thalli of Thelotrema lepadinum grown on the bark of Quercus robur. The stand was located in moist fertile oak-linden-hornbeam forest Tilio-Carpinetum with...
This paper presents new distribution stands for 70 species of lichenized town from Łomża town (Podlasie, NE Poland). The investigations in the area of Łomża were carried out in the years 2014–2015, on 34 research stands. Seven species have been put on the Red list of the lichens in Poland (Cieśliński et al. 2006), including Rhizocarpon lavatum in critically endangered – CR, Ramalina fastigiata, R...
Research using lichens as bioindicators of air pollution has been conducted in the city of Łomża. The presence of indicator species of epiphytic and epilithic lichens has been analysed. A 4-point lichen scale has been developed for the test area, on the basis of which four lichenoindication zones have been determined. The least favourable conditions for lichen growth have been recorded in the city...
A paper presents a list of 89 species found in Supraśl town (Podlasie, NE Poland). The investigations in the area of Supraśl were carried out in 2013–2014, on 41 research stands. Eighteen species are considered to be threatened in Poland. The lichens occur on all substrate types: soil, decaying wood, bark of all trees and shrubs species, boulders, concrete, foundation, mortar, plaster and bryophytes...
In the territory of NP the Białowieża Forest no special research on specific structure of lichens of the Cetrelia has been carried out, and there are only single instructions in publications (Golubkov 1986, 1987 and others) whose definitions are based on morphological characteristics and results of colour chemical reactions which are not always reliable. Three taxa of Cetrelia (C. cetrarioides, C...
The paper presents the results of the research on the composition of lichen species of larch in the towns of Podlasie. 29 species of lichenicolous fungi have been recorded. A synthesis of epiphytic lichen biota of larch in Poland has been made. Despite the homogeneity of the substrate, the lichen biota of larch in Poland according to our own data and literature amounts to 107 species, some of which...
Bioindication is a method of assessing the state of the environment, especially pollution, based on the survey responses of living stenobionts organisms reaction (indicator organisms) to the changes. Stenobionts are species with a narrow ecological tolerance to the given agent. If you know the factor which makes it sensitive and on what condition favor is based their presence in the environment we...
The paper presents the results of the research on Bryoria capillaris (Ach.) Brodo & D. Hawksw. in the Polish part of the Białowieża Forest. Two new sites of this species have been found in the managed Białowieża Forest, in Władysław Szafer Reserve. Bryoria capillaris grows on the bark and small branches of Quercus robur and Picea abies.
