Pressure/acoustic sensors based on a hollow-core photonic bandgap fiber (HC-PBF) with thin outer-cladding and a fiber-tip micro-cavity with ultra-thin graphene diaphragm are reported. The HC-PBF sensor demonstrates a normalized acoustic responsivity of~25 dB higher than standard single mode fiber while the fiber-tip sensor has a record high pressure responsivity of well over 1000 nm/kPa.
In this paper, a facile cold-wall chemical vapor deposition for direct synthesis of graphene film on Ar plasma treated Ni foil and Cu foil is presented. The carbon source CH4 along with the carrier gas N2 and H2 were introduced into the cold-wall chamber to supply the carbon to form the graphene film on the Ni foil and Cu foil surface. The as-grown graphene films were transferred onto the SiO2/Si...
A finite-size effect leads to more electrons to occupy high-energy states in a graphene nanoribbon. Therefore, the thermionic-emission (TE) current density of a metal/graphene nanoribbon changes with its width when the graphene nanoribbon is a semiconductor. This letter demonstrates that the TE current density increases rapidly with the decreasing width of the graphene nanoribbon. It is also found...
