Linear induction accelerators(LIAs) require the electron sources that can deliver high current strength and have good brightness for the beam quality. The paper mainly introduces the application of the thermionic cathodes including “M” type and scandate cathodes in LIAs that have been used VEDs and the key points of the fabrication of the cathode assemblies.
This paper describes the life-test vehicles and evaluation results of M cathodes. BVERI evaluated the M cathodes lifetime in 40 diodes and 18 electron guns (including 2 TWTs) in DC mode under the conditions of temperature acceleration and current density acceleration, and presented the preliminary life model of M type cathode. The diameter of the cathodes used in the experiments is 2.0 mm. The average...
Both kinds of 10 cm diameter thermionic dispenser cathode have been fabricated at BVERI. One is impregnated scandate (I-Sc) cathode and the other is traditional Ir-coated “M” cathode with 411 impregnant. Figure 1 is the photograph of Φ10 cm cathode assembly. The scandate cathode can deliver the same density as “M” cathode but 80-100°C lower in temperature, though it needs higher vacuum than “M” cathode...
A theoretical model of an electrodialysis process for the removal of metal ions in process stream of the pulp and paper industry has been developed in this article. Based on a constant applied electric potential gradient as a power supply, the model starts from a differential equation of mass balance, and presents an analytical solution describing concentration profiles of cations as electrolytes...
