A fabrication-tolerant mid-infrared silicon polarization splitter and rotator (PSR) based on a partially etched grating-assisted coupler is proposed. The design of the partially etched structure allows to use different cladding layers, such as SiO2, to make the device compatible with the metal back-end of line process. Moreover, by using the grating-assisted coupler, the device is no longer limited...
This paper presents the analysis and design of the pill box input and output windows for THz traveling-wave tube (TWT) amplifier. Both the theoretical mechanism and simulation results are analyzed. The simulation results clearly show a pass band 14 GHz of the window as desired frequency. The results can provide a foundation on the fabricating of THz TWT amplifier.
Near field communication (NFC), a wireless technology operating at 13.56 MHz, provides an efficient approach for short distance transmission. The mutual inductance is an important parameter which affects impedance matching and transmission efficiency for NFC applications. In this paper, we proposed a simple and effective method based on transmission matrix to calculate the mutual inductance. Thus,...
A novel serpentine waveguide slow wave structure (SWSWS) with caps and posts is proposed. The HFSS simulation results show that the interaction impedance is enhanced and the phase velocity is reduced over the normal SWSWS. The novel SWSWS is suitable for as the high-frequency structure of compact, linear beam devices.
This paper proposes a novel wideband spectrum sensing (WSS) scheme, termed multi-antenna compressed wideband spectrum sensing (MCWSS) scheme, which utilizes compressed sensing (CS) to reduce the extremely high sampling rate of wideband signal. Although there are studies on compressed wideband spectrum sensing, they only focus on single antenna signal. Since multi-antenna technology can enhance the...
