High-speed and low-area decoders for low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes with very long block lengths are challenging to implement due to the large amount of nodes and edges required. In this paper we implement a decoder for a (32643, 30592) LDPC code that has variable nodes of degree 7, check nodes degrees of 111 and 112, and 228501 edges, making fully-parallel hardware implementation unfeasible...
We investigate a soft decision decoder for LDPC codes with long-block size. The results show a coding gain of 5.9 dB compared to an uncoded system and 1.5 dB over a hard decision receiver.
A reduced complexity implementation is proposed of an optical receiver for the soft decoding of low density parity check codes. Coding gain of 9.4 dB is achieved using 20 % of the incoming optical signal.
Video-streaming can now be offered on third-generation (3G) mobile networks. Most research efforts have focused on video download. This paper presents a detailed study of challenges faced for successfully deploying applications requiring life video upload. Both subjective and objective qualities as well as the effects of mobility are analyzed on real 3G networks. Consequently, video profiles are identified...
