Die Fluoreszenzmikroskopie liefert Forschenden in den Lebenswissenschaften Grundlagen für wertvolle wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse. In den faszinierenden mikroskopischen Aufnahmen sind markierte zelluläre Strukturen in fluoreszierenden Farben vor einem dunklen Hintergrund zu sehen. Die chemischen Grundlagen der Prinzipien, nach denen Fluoreszenzfarbstoffe Zellstrukturen anfärben, bieten Anknüpfungspunkte an obligatorische Inhalte des Chemieunterrichts der Sekundarstufe II. Im Beitrag werden vier Modellexperimente vorgestellt, die im Schülerlabor oder (Projekt‐)Unterricht in der Schule eingesetzt werden können.
