Neil Schneiderman, PhD, was born February 24, 1937. He is James L. Knight Professor of Health Psychology, Medicine, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Miami. Schneiderman is also director of the university-wide Behavioral Medicine Research Center. He received his PhD in psychology at Indiana University and postdoctoral training at the University of Basle, Switzerland, in neurophysiology, before joining the faculty of the University of Miami in 1965. He is director of program projects and research training grants in cardiovascular behavioral medicine from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and in the behavioral management of HIV/AIDS from the National Institute of Mental Health, both institutes in the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
