New two-bobbin design alternatives to the integration of transformer and inductive functions on single core structures are presented for conventional switchmode power converter circuits, including discussions of the practical design methods followed in the integration processes. Illustrations of application of these methods include buck and boost-derived circuits with integrated magnetics, and how...
By using a small transformer to provide steady state base drive to the bipolar transistor in a cascode switch, near optimum switch characteristics are achieved. These include fast turn-on, low v-sat, minimum storage time, fast turn-off, and a high impeadance input when using a FET lower element. Results are tabulated for various bipolar transistors.

On behalf of the IEEE Power Electronics Council I welcome you to APEC '87, the second annual Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition. The aim of APEC is to provide a forum for subjects relevant and timely to practicing power electronics engineers, and to provide educational opportunities for those who wish to increase the breadth or depth of their knowledge of the field. I think the Conference...
A general small-signal model for current-programmed switching power stages is used for design-oriented analysis of a 150W buck regulator. The model, into which the current-programming minor feedback loop is absorbed, exposes the desired tendency towards "constant" output current. The regulator voltage loop remains the only explicit feedback loop, allowing the regulator closed-loop properties...
