In this paper, we propose the mixture communication method of single-flit and wormhole routing. In the method, a buffer memory is shared in each link and virtual channels are assigned. We also evaluated the dynamic communication performance of proposed method. As a result, the proposed method was higher throughput than the conventional method.
In spite of much advancement in network-on-chip (NoC), area overhead further need to be explored and improved. Thus, a high performance router using minimum hardware circuits will not only reduce cost but also minimize the layout area. In this paper, we have proposed a memory sharing method, where a memory is shared by several physical links by using a multi-port memory. To show the superiority of...
Currently, high-speed IEEE802.11n interfaces using MIMO have become common in access points (APs) and personal computers (PCs) for wireless local-area networks (WLANs). This trend leads to further expand the application areas for WLANs. In this paper, we present throughput measurement results of IEEE802.11n devices with various placement orientations in indoor environments. They show that measured...
Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) was developed to support the communication between resource constrained nodes via low-power links. As an Internet protocol, CoAP needs congestion control primarily to stabilize the networking operation. In this paper we propose a new round trip time based adaptive congestion control scheme, which improves CoAP by utilizing the retransmission count information...
GPU-accelerated applications are becoming increasingly common in high-performance computing as well as in low-power heterogeneous embedded systems. Nevertheless, GPU programming is a challenging task, especially if a GPU application has to be tuned to fully take advantage of the GPU architectural configuration. Even more challenging is the application tuning by considering power and energy consumption,...
The increasing programmability, performance, and cost/effectiveness of GPUs have led to a widespread use of such many-core architectures to accelerate general purpose applications. Nevertheless, tuning applications to efficiently exploit the GPU potentiality is a very challenging task, especially for inexperienced programmers. This is due to the difficulty of developing a SW application for the specific...
In wireless mesh networks, when a packet is relayed by a station, it can get into collision with another packet of the same flow. This effect is called intra-flow interference. In this paper we propose an analytical model to study the problem of intra-flow interference. Taking into account collisions caused by both neighbor stations and hidden stations, we estimate the saturated throughput of a given...
Instant messenger, often shortened to IM is one type of communication service that allows person to have a conversation (chat) privately with others via the internet. Within the calls & messaging on Android and iOS operating systems, they both have an equal value in the terms of innovation and performance. In this work, we focus on evaluate the performance of the IM application on Android and...
Wireless powered communication networks are becoming an effective solution for improving self sustainability of mobile devices. In this context, a hybrid access point transfers energy to a group of nodes, which use the harvested energy to perform computation or transmission tasks. While the availability of the wireless energy transfer mechanism opens up new frontiers, it also requires an appropriate...
Different standardization bodies are working towards test methodologies and procedures to determine true Multiple Impute Multiple Output (MIMO) performance. A reference CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association) 2×2 Long Term Evolution (LTE) MIMO antenna concept has been designed [1–2] and verified [3] to eliminate the uncertainties linked to the unknown antenna performance of the...
NoSQL Database Management Systems (DBMS) have increased in prominence and market share in the last few years. IBM Cloudant is one of the well-known enterprise NoSQL DBMS which has been offered in both cloud and also as an onpremise standalone product (i.e. Cloudant Local). Cloudant has a large number of customers such as Samsung, Adobe, DHL, etc. In this paper, we will demonstrate how Cloudant can...

The millimeter wave (mmWave) bands are likely to play a significant role in next generation cellular systems due to the possibility of very high throughput thanks to the availability of massive bandwidth and high-dimensional antennas. Especially in Non-Line-of-Sight conditions, significant variations in the received RF power can occur as a result of the scattering from nearby building and terrain...
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have generated a great interest for industrial and have enabled new applications in different domains. In this paper, we present a PHY/MAC/Network analytic model for asymmetric multihop WSNs using the unslotted IEEE802.15.4 protocol and a weighted fair queuing (WFQ) scheduling that models the forwarding capability of sensors. This model can be used for cross-layer optimization...
Because of the recent advances in wireless technologies and, consequently the fast growing number of wireless devices that are being deployed in consumer houses, there is a growing demand from manufacturers to develop and deploy tools able to diagnose problems and evaluate the performance of their products prior to releasing them to the market. Such testing tools are required to be quickly deployable...
Over recent years, packet processing acceleration has become a hot topic. Indeed, several software solutions have been developed to offer the best possible performance. Recently, a new open source project has started called OpenDataPlane (ODP), this framework provides a set of APIs, configuration files, and other functions to accelerate packet processing and manage effectively the networking data...
Paravirtual I/O devices are known to outperform emulated I/O devices but this performance improvement comes with two major drawbacks: Guest machine owners must install hypervisor-specific device drivers every time they switch hypervisors, and these device drivers must be implemented by the hypervisor providers for all major operating systems. Emulated devices do not suffer from these drawbacks because...
Spectrum channel is a limited resource in mobile wireless communication. In dramatic evolvement of communication, a resource sharing scenario of heterogeneous network is a challenging. The D2D system with synchronous transmission requires a medium access control (MAC) protocol, which provides sharing resource and maintains the protection level of the existed M2M system with asynchronous transmission...
Abstract-In IEEE 802.11[1] wireless LANs based onCSMA/CA (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with CollisionAvoidance), parameters such as contention window (CW)significantly affects its throughput performance. In this paper,we propose a novel CW control scheme in order to achievethe high throughput performance in dense user environments. While the standard CSMA/CA mechanism employs an adaptiveCW control...
Recently, the full duplex communication has been spotlighted as one of key technologies of the future wireless local area network (WLAN). The full duplex MAC protocols are actively researched because the feasibility of full duplexing is achieved because of the technology evolution. The full duplex MAC protocols can be categorized as two types. One is centralized type and the other is distributed type...
