In this work a new improved version of Teatching Learnning Based Optimization algorithm, TLBO, is proposed. The new strategy is obtained by tne inclusion of the Bat Algorithm, BA, random local search part in the optimization process with TLBO algorithm. The developped hybrid algorihm is applied jointly with 2D non-linear finite elment method to solv the Team workshop problem 25.
In activity recognition, the number of target classes and classification accuracy are insufficient for practical application because accuracy declines in real situations. To address this problem, we consider that acquiring personal data is effective. We propose an active learning system for the accuracy problem and discuss an effective classifier and method to select appropriate data. We demonstrate...
This paper tackles stalking problem that has become socially serious. Various approaches have been proposed to prevent becoming a victim of stalking behavior, but there are few ones to prevent becoming a stalker. In this paper, we proposed a mathematical model of stalkers' behavior. Next on the basis of the model, we proposed a game for education which provides simulated experience of stalkers. It...
Penetration of multimedia communications with mobile Wi-Fi and tethering requires wireless LANs (WLANs) to guarantee a specific bandwidth in densely deployed WLANs. IEEE802.11e (HCCA) with 802.11aa could use inefficiently radio frequency as well as fail to provide each WLAN with enough CFP period in which sending opportunity of a terminal is guaranteed. To guarantee a specific bandwidth even in densely...
Quad-rotor Micro Aerial Vehicle (MAV) is a multi-rotor MAV with 4 propellers which propel the MAV up to the air and move around. It has high maneuverability to move around, such as roll, pitch and yaw movements. However, line of sight and radio control effective range are the major limitation for the MAVs which significantly shorten the travel distance. Therefore, we proposed a waypoint navigation...
An imitating model for monitoring the work of a workshop that executes several technological processes was developed. Model was developed with usage of probability theory methods, mathematical statistics, and the theory of random processes. The model visualizes a certain set of states of the executed operations belonging to the technological process and allows user to track the percentage of failure...
Lattice codes used under the Compute-and-Forward paradigm suggest an alternative strategy for the standard Gaussian multiple-access channel (MAC). It has been proven that decoding an integer linear combination of the transmitted codewords enables higher data rates compared to decoding the messages individually. Recent work of Gasptar et al. proposed a new multiple access channel technique that they...
This paper presents the evaluation of super-twisting sliding mode control (STSMC) implementation in autonomous underwater glider (AUG). Underwater glider can be considered as an under-actuated system which is difficult to maneuver and it is also very much dependent on their operational environment. The nonlinear controller is designed based on nonlinear motion of equation for 1DOF internal movable...
This paper proposes the method to recommend music using lyric network. This method corresponding to more than thousands of musics. The authors focus each lyric of the music. Keywords representing music are extracted from its lyric by combining TF-IDF method and principle of discriminant analysis. Lyric network is generated based on extracted keywords. The connection of generated network can recommend...
There are 3,930,000 physical-disabled people and 740,000 mentally-disabled people in Japan. Also, 6% of nations have some disability from the survey by Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Among them, the total number of physical-disabled under 18 years old is 98,000 and mentally-disable is 125,000. Those children cannot communicate without somebody's help because of severe physical or/and mental...
Although new product development (NPD) is dynamic and complex in nature, it still needs to be designed and managed. Applying systems thinking helps R&D managers to design their engineering organization and to improve engineering performance. However, no meta-analysis of NPD success factors has focused on causal networks between identified factors. Thus, network analysis was applied within a multiple...
This paper intends to lay the groundwork for detection of backlash nonlinearity in a two-mass rotational system representing a vehicle driveline. It involves experiments and practical considerations prior to carrying out a system identification of the plant. Four possible system configurations are elaborated. Parameter estimation is then carried out in Dymola. Practical factors that affect the quality...
Vehicles have become a daily needs for all of us and it is normal that every family is having at least one vehicle at their home. This leads to the increased of accidents and vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is an approach invented to tackle with this problem. In order to study the algorithm in VANET, a mobility simulator is needed for simulation. SUMO is proved to be a good simulation tool for VANET...
We propose a simple, yet powerful regularization technique that can be used to significantly improve both the pairwise and triplet losses in learning local feature descriptors. The idea is that in order to fully utilize the expressive power of the descriptor space, good local feature descriptors should be sufficiently “spread-out” over the space. In this work, we propose a regularization term to maximize...
Sense of self-agency has been proposed in psychology field, and it is the sense that I am the initiator or source of the action. Human perception should be considered to design a better interface, so that sense of agency is spotlighted in ergonomics and robotics interface design field. In previous study we concluded that sense of agency is affected by both of a noise and a delay in the case of an...
Recently, emotion expression of robots have been considered as a very important factor during communication between robots and human. As ways of emotion expression, there is not only verbal information but also nonverbal information such as facial expressions and body movements. In this paper, we focus on body movement, which is one of way for a robot to express its emotions. We propose an emotions...
In this study a practically feasible Input-Output linearizing feedback law is introduced and tested on an experimental setup. The test setup is representative of part of a medical handheld diagnostics device, requiring fast and accurate temperature control in large temperature ranges. The setup is modelled with an in-house developed lumped mass modelling tool to allow for efficient controller design...
Dynamical technical networks and dynamic network objects (DNO) as a special case of them are considered in many subject areas as objects of research, design, quality assurance, automatization, monitoring and control. In this paper we focus on the simulation of the mine air networks (MAN) as an example of dynamic network objects with distributed parameters. To improve the simulation process, we propose...
This paper presents an online model-free adaptive traffic signal controller for an isolated intersection. The problem is formulated as a Reinforcement Learning (RL) task. We base our solution on the Q-learning algorithm. In contrast with other studies in the field, we use the queue length rather than the average delay as a measure of performance. Also, the number of queuing vehicles in non-conflicting...
The mathematical model describing dynamics of heating and the arc erosion in opening electrical contacts is presented. The arc heat flux components entering and leaving electrode surfaces owing to ion bombardment, electron emission, inverse electron flux and radiation from the arc, melting, evaporation and heat conduction are taken into account. The temperature distribution in the contact zone is...
