We report huge field accumulations in rectangular aperture arrays on thin metal film by using shape resonance in THz frequency region. A large far-field transmittance enhancement is observed in the samples of various widths ranging from 10 mum to 1.8 mum which corresponds to only an order of lambda/100. Theoretical calculations based on vector diffraction theory indicates 230 times field enhancement...
We measure field enhancement through nanogap by using both terahertz time domain spectroscopy (TDS) and terahertz imaging technique with continuous wave (CW) radiation source. Far-field amplitude is connected to the near-field enhancement through the Kirchhoff formalism. With TDS, we found that a field enhancement of 200 at 0.1 THz for the 500 nm slit. To confirm our TDS results, we also perform the...
In this paper we explore the possibility to accomplish field enhancement in the visible range in a photonic band gap cavity inserted in a Bragg waveguide, assisted by a silver metal groove. The investigation we carried out shows how the resonant mode can be localized in dielectric region under a Bragg grating; a thorough evaluation of some characteristic parameters also allows to determine whether...
