DC microgrids are popular due to the integration of renewable energy sources such as solar photovoltaics and fuel cells. Owing to the low output voltage of these dc power generators, high efficient high gain dc–dc converters are in need to connect the dc microgrid. In this paper, a nonisolated high gain dc–dc converter is proposed without using the voltage multiplier cell and/or hybrid switched-capacitor...
A step-up DC-DC converter (non-isolated) based on the current diverter principle is shown. This converter is intended for renewable energy sources or distribution networks for elevating the voltage from LV to MV levels. The relationship of stage number, duty cycle and efficiency is analyzed. In addition first measurement results with a low voltage prototype are shown.
This paper presents a buck converter augmented with additional energy paths that enable a near null response to load transients. Fundamental performance limits, such as slew-rate limits, are overcome resulting in increased bandwidth with a response that is faster than previously established “minimum time” or “time optimal” control of conventional buck converters. An energy-based method is presented...
The existing various reactor physics computational tools are capable of performing analysis of current (research and power) reactors to a certain level of details with many of them introducing simplifications and assumptions dependent on neutron transport method introduced and methodology for describing reactor geometries. Such approaches for over forty years produced accurate analysis for currently...
This paper presents the concept of a voltage controlled pulse skipping modulation (VCPSM) in a dc-dc converter, which improves the efficiency, ripple magnitude, and transient response over a wide range of light load condition. The duty ratio of VCPSM, instead of remaining constant as in a classical PSM, is controlled using the voltage mode control with an additional input voltage feed-forward along...
