Stereo vision has been used in many different applications such as robot, entertainment, and car electronics. Disparity-based distance estimation requires a large amount of computational resources because of high block-matching computations, especially on the high-resolution image pair. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for computing the distance between our own driving car and the front car...
Stereo vision has been used in many different applications such as robot, entertainment, and electronics for car. Computation of the disparity map requires a large amount of computational resources because of high block-matching computations, especially on the high-resolution image pair. In this paper, we proposed an algorithm for computing the disparity map of a full HD image pair from left and right...
This paper presents a vehicle collision avoidance method and it is associated with the exploitation of multiple features based on the AdaBoost classifier result. The proposed system will enhance the precision rate and accuracy of vehicle detection from 72% to 96% using an AdaBoost detection method extracting multiple features in vehicle detection and false alarms are reduced.
Maintenance trains travel in convoy. In Australia, only the first train of the convoy pays attention to the track signalization (the other convoy vehicles simply follow the preceding vehicle). Because of human errors, collisions can happen between the maintenance vehicles. Although an anti-collision system based on a laser distance meter is already in operation, the existing system has a limited range...
Lots of rear end collisions due to driver inattention have been identified as a major automotive safety issue. A short advance warning can reduce the number and severity of the rear end collisions. This paper describes a Forward Collision Warning (FCW) system based on monocular vision, and presents a new vehicle detection method: appearance-based hypothesis generation, template tracking-based hypothesis...
Intelligent vehicle navigation in complex cross-country terrain can benefit from accurate obstacle avoidance path-planning. The paper presents an obstacle avoidance path-planning algorithm based on stereo vision system. Firstly, Multi-feature extraction based stereo matching techniques is proposed on a corner and edge extracted image pair to accomplish environmental perception, which can provide robust...
Traditional sensors for obstacle detection on aircraft, such as radar, are too heavy for fixed wing micro air vehicles and make obstacle detection and avoidance a difficult problem. EO/IR cameras are small and lightweight enough to offer an alternative to heavy sensors. Vision processing available on a ground station provides range and bearing to nearby obstacles. We propose a nonlinear guidance law...
ULTra is a system of autonomous vehicles operating on a segregated guideway. The existing navigation system requires the use of raised kerbs to assess the vehicles position within the guideway. A vision-based system has the potential to be more flexible by sensing markings on the ground. It could also assist future obstacle detection systems. This paper implements three well known lane detection approaches...
We present new realtime path planning and collision avoidance algorithms for an autonomous rover equipped with a laser range finder to be used as a platform for multi-agent navigation and control in unknown environments. For successful navigation, such tasks as localization, map-building, and collision avoidance should be handled at the vehicle level. The proposed architecture covers these aspects...
