This chapter discusses when to avoid acronyms, buzzwords, and tech‐speak, and when to use them. Leaders recognize that they must choose words that are precise and that provide listeners with clarity. Leaders must be focused on inspiring action through communication, and should make their language jargon‐free. They have to begin by making the conscious choice to cut out needless technical terms and acronyms and use the language of leadership. Jargon gets in the way of leadership because it creates confusion, doubt, and uncertainty in the minds of audiences. Hence, using the language of leadership requires that leaders replace jargon with English, strip away all but the most necessary terminology, and when they do need those terms, provide clear definitions for their listeners. The chapter advises leveraging on a go‐forward basis and to maximize leadership utilization.
