Der Klimawandel stellt eine der zentralen Herausforderungen für die Zukunft im Bereich der Landwirtschaft und der Lebensmittel dar. Die Landwirtschaft leidet unter dem Klimawandel, trägt aber gleichzeitig dazu bei. Die Wechselwirkung zwischen Ursachen und Wirkungen ist sehr komplex; es besteht aber dringender Handlungsbedarf; manchmal fehlt es den Akteuren an wissenschaftlichen Belegen oder politischem Willen, um Lösungen zuzustimmen. Man kann die Wechselbeziehung zwischen Landwirtschaft und Klimawandel durch alternative Maßnahmen beeinflussen: Abschwächung, Anpassung, Widerstandsfähigkeit, nachhaltige Intensivierung und Bürgerresonanz. Allerdings würde keiner dieser wünschenswerten Ansätze für sich alleine betrachtet zu einer adäquaten Lösung führen. Wir benötigen alternative Lösungsansätze und aufeinander abgestimmte Handlungen auf jeder Governance‐Ebene, die alle Akteure der Lebensmittelkette einbeziehen: Landwirte, Lebensmittelindustrie, Verbraucher und Aufsichtsbehörden. Jeder Akteur muss bestimmte Verpflichtungen übernehmen. Wir müssen innovativ sein, reagieren und uns solidarisch verhalten, um Anpassungen zu erreichen. Die jüngsten Rahmenprojekte der EU und vorausschauende Untersuchungen für die Landwirtschaft ermöglichen den Politikakteuren relevante Einblicke und Vorschläge. Dieser Beitrag betrachtet vier Richtungen, innerhalb derer Reaktionen und gemeinsame Zuständigkeiten genutzt werden könnten, um der Klimaherausforderung in der Landwirtschaft zu begegnen: Erkennen von verschiedenen Modernisierungswegen; Fördern von Lern‐ und Innovationsnetzwerken; Nutzen von lokalen Ressourcen und Lösungen; sowie Anerkennen von „sanfter“ Nachhaltigkeit. Es gibt Überlegungen zu den politischen Auswirkungen auf europäischer, mitgliedsstaatlicher und regionaler Ebene.
