Consequences from the directives of the German WU‐Guideline for precast twin walls – Manufacturing and proving roughness on the inner surfaces of the precast shells
The new German guideline for waterproof constructions requires that precast twin walls with cast in place concrete completion must have an entirely rough surface with gravelled texture and also an average roughness depth of 1.5 mm in contrast to the former target of 0.9 mm. These requirements apply to the space within the steel lattice girders, too, which is quite a challenge for casting and proving. Initial tests have to be performed even on the inner surfaces of both shells. During current production and also on site visual examination and comparison with a reference slab will be sufficient. But in case of doubt sand patch tests or laser measurements have to be performed. Unfortunately the guideline does not answer the question how this could be realized in practice. Therefore the intention of this paper is to present solutions for this purpose.
