Conclusions
As has been demonstrated (1), the Celsius Control system can effectively and quickly reduce and maintain target temperatures. The ability to effectively achieve and maintain strict temperature control is an important goal that has been previously unachievable in the neurological intensive care unit. As a result, this new technology may provide an important breakthrough in the ability to reduce fever-associated morbidity in the neurological intensive care unit. What remains to be seen is whether the advantages of this technology will outweigh the inherent disadvantages of the necessary femoral approach.
