The fauna of Mesostigmata in nests of the white stork Ciconia ciconia was studied in the vicinity of Poznań (Poland). A total of 37 mite species was recovered from 11 of the 12 nests examined. The mite fauna was dominated by the family Macrochelidae. Macrocheles merdarius was the most abundant species, comprising 56% of all mites recovered. Most of the abundant mite species were associated with dung...
Two new species of Neophyllobius (Acari, Camerobiidae) viz. N. populus sp. n., N. karabagiensis sp. n., and a new species of Tycherobius (Acari, Camerobiidae), Tycherobius dazkiriensis sp. n., are described from Turkey and illustrated based on females and a protonymph. Arctoseius pulvisculus has been so far treated in literature as a synonym of A. minutus. However, on the basis of the analysis of the type material (A. pulvisculus), the Halbert’s descriptions and figures and the material from the specimens that conform to this description (A. minutus) it was discovered they were two distinct species. The study presents the female description of both species and...
The third African Metagynella Berlese, 1919 species (Metagynella masani sp. n.) is described in this paper. Original drawing and scanning micrographs of the new species are given.
Results of research on the chaetotaxy and morphology of setae in Nenteria pandioni (Acari: Uropodina) from Poland are presented. Certain idiosomal setae were found to be variable in structure. This variability may result from differences within the gene pool and/or from intra-specific variation associated with the process of aging. A full range of setal morphology was observed — from simple and needle-like...
Abrolophus crimensis sp. n., Valgothrombium melindae sp. n. from Ukraine, Moldoustium baltiensis gen. n., sp. n. from Moldova and Ukraine and Podothrombium dbrenitum sp. n. from Moldova are described. Two new species of zerconid mites, Zercon uludagicus sp. n. and Z. huseyini sp. n., from Turkey are described and illustrated. The similarities and differences between the species are discussed. The lists of the taxonomic diagnostic key to adults of Zercon species known from Turkey are also given.
A new soil mite species, Quadroppia (Coronoquadroppia) sezeki sp. n., is described. Adult mites were recorded from moss under a pine tree from a pine forest. The new species differs from the other species of the subgenus by bearing epimera III+IV with a wide key hole shaped inner border and the shape of frontal appendage of rostrum. The morphological features of the new species are also compared with...
