Whether it is following electron ejection in water, probing hydrogen-bonding network dynamics of water or interactions of water-protein systems, time-resolved ultra-fast techniques in THz range are required. We present here our recent results from optical-pump THz-probe experiments [1], two-dimensional Raman-THz spectroscopy [2] as well as T-jump-THz experiments and discuss these advances also from...
Hot carrier dynamics in single-layered doped graphene after the photo-excitation has been studied by ultra-broadband optical-pump/THz-probe spectroscopy (OPTP). We successfully determined the frequency-dependent carrier scattering rate Γ(ω) and Drude weight D(o) of photo-excited graphene from 1 to 8 THz. The Γ(ω) shows a strong frequency dependence and the reduction of the averaged D(o) cannot be...
We combine sub-cycle, mid-infrared spectroscopy and near-field microscopy to achieve a spatial resolution of 25 nm and a temporal resolution of 50 fs. Using our nano-FTIR technology we can spatially, temporally and spectrally resolve the femtosecond carrier-dynamics in solid state materials like photo excited InAs nanowires.
We report a technique for the single-shot measurement of single-cycle THz radiation without the need for ultrashort laser pulses. The nonlinear mixing between a narrow linewidth laser and a THz pulse encodes the THz temporal profile into the envelope of a new optical pulse. The preservation of temporal and spectral information in this process enables retrieval of the THz pulse from a standard FROG...
Quasi-continuous terahertz laser plasma discharge in inert gases on the Novosibirsk free-electron laser exists in form periodical self-oscillations at sound frequencies caused by plasma screening of its focal area. Full suppression of the self-oscillations has been obtained by a negative optical feedback.
We developed a dynamic terahertz time domain spectroscopy technique with single shot measurement of pulsed THz burst, which could be used to probe the irreversible ultrafast processes at multiple time points for dynamic information extraction.
We carried out optical pump-terahertz (THz) probe measurements to investigate the charge carrier dynamics of diketopyrrolopyrrole-linked tetrabenzoporphyrin (DPP-BP) thin films. In contrast to tetrabenzoporphyrin, DPP-BP exhibits broad and intense absorption, ranging from the visible and near infrared region. After the photoexcitation at 400 nm, we observed an instantaneous appearance of transient...
We report possible light-induced superconductivity in the organic molecular solid K3C60, a superconductor at equilibrium below Tc=20 K. In our experiment we excited this alkali-doped fulleride with strong femtosecond pulses, tuned to be resonant with local molecular vibrational modes. By means of THz time-domain spectroscopy, we detected the pump-induced changes in the conductivity spectrum as a function...
