This paper introduces an example of a small antenna measurement system with the optical fiber link technologies in the millimeter-wave band. The effect of the facilities such as the connect jig and the measurement system should be carefully estimated in the antenna measurement. The radiation patterns of a 60 GHz small package antenna have been measured by the optical fiber link system.
A design of dual circularly polarized antenna is proposed. By two dual L-shaped probe structure, dual-sense circular polarization (CP) for radio astronomy is achieved. The dual L-shaped probes are place in the radial direction of a circular ring to obtain both right hand circular polarization (RHCP) and left hand circular polarization (LHCP). According to our simulation results, the proposed antenna...
An implantable circularly polarized antenna, working at dual Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) bands, is investigated. The proposed antenna is composed of double rings and fed differentially. Reactive loading is employed to achieve a slow wave effect through adding equilateral-triangle-patches to the double rings. Thus, a compact size of 18 mm × 9 mm × 0.635 mm can be obtained. The generated...
In the paper, a magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna with a dynamic H-plane beamwidth control is presented. The design methodology uses tunable parasitic dipoles placed on the sides of a driven ME dipole along its H-plane. Each parasitic dipole is loaded with a varactor diode to change the strength of the mutual coupling; therefore, the overall radiation pattern produced by the driven ME dipole and...
A novel end-fire magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna fed by substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) is proposed at the 60-GHz band. The antenna is composed of an open-ended SIW and a pair of electric dipoles, which has a simple structure that is easy to integrate into substrates. Wide impedance bandwidth of 44%, symmetrical radiation patterns that are almost identical in two orthogonal planes, low backward...
Circularly polarized antennas have been actively studied in recent years. This paper is devoted to a review of circularly polarized antenna designs by the author's group. This time, this paper will focus on examples in which electromagnetic simulations were effectively used.
A novel differential wide-slot ultrawideband(UWB) antenna with band-notched selectivity is proposed and investigated in this paper. The antenna consists of a rectangle ground with a wide slot and a stepped differential feeding line. In order to realize controllable notched bands characteristics, a pair of half-wave-length slits are utilized in ground and feeding structure. Moreover, the notched bands...
A wideband dual-polarized base station antenna for 2G/3G/LTE bands is proposed in this paper. The antenna consists of two T-shaped coupling feeding structure which result in a wide impedance bandwidth, a pair of double-loop-shaped dipole which are located perpendicularly, and a box-shaped reflector to realize a unidirectional radiation pattern. A prototype of the proposed antenna is designed, fabricated...
A new dual-port antenna suitable for cognitive radio system is proposed. The antenna structure consists of a sensing(UWB) antenna and a frequency reconfigurable antenna for communication. It has a capability to operate in wide band (3.1–12GHz) and three narrow bands (band1∶3.7–4.2GHz, band2∶5.0–5.8GHZ, band3∶7.4–8. GHz). Three switches are used to control the antenna working at different narrow bands.
In this paper, a ring-circled mono-cone antenna is proposed for wireless body area network (WBAN) applications. The proposed antenna, composed of a modified mono cone and a copper ring connecting to the ground plane by four cylinders, is vertically fed using a coaxial line through the bottom ground plane. The added ring and cylinders contribute to an extra lower frequency band, and thereby extend...
A sector-shaped dual-polarized antenna with T-shaped feeding structure is proposed. The proposed antenna, with 4 sector-shaped radiating elements, have a T-shaped feeding structure which will broaden the bandwidth, The proposed antenna achieves a impedance bandwidth of 49.7% for SWR<2 at both ports and a stable HPBW(Half-Power Bandwidth), the simulated gain is greater than 8dBi over the operating...
A broadband ±45 slant dual-polarized base station antenna element for LTE700/GSM850/GSM900 is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna is composed of two pairs of butterfly radiation patches which are coupling-fed by two Y-shaped microstrip lines. A prototype of the proposed antenna is designed fabricated and test. The measured results show that a bandwidth of 21.7% (0.65–1 GHZ) for VSWR<1...
In some applications, such as emissivity calculation of finite object, scattering field and power must be calculated accurately. However, conventional method based on equivalent source integral on closed equivalent surface might not give accurate enough results, because the numerical error of scattering field in the strong scattering side of the object might have significant effect on the scattering...
This paper presents the design of a corrugated tapered slot antenna (TSA) with application to microwave imaging (MI) system for brain stroke detection. The antenna is excited by a stepped transmission line through slotline transition. Corrugations are used to reduce the size of the antenna and also improve its radiation performance. Simulated and measured results demonstrate that the proposed antenna...
This paper presents a wearable antenna of 2.4 GHz Bluetooth for smart glasses application. This antenna consists of two elements array planar inverted-F antennas (PIFA) using coaxial cable to connect two antenna elements together. Moreover, Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) in user's head is also calculated using the model provided by CST software. The frequency range for reflection coefficient <...
A monopole-like bowtie slot ultra wideband (UWB) antenna is proposed and designed for UWB applications. To increase the impedance bandwidth of ordinary monopole patch antenna modifications are made in the patch and ground plane geometry. The antenna is practically fabricated and measured. Simulated and measured results show a good agreement. The designed antenna offers compact size, operates across...
This presentation overviews recent advances in the designs of low profile circular patch antennas with monopole like radiation patterns. This type of antennas can provide omnidirectional radiation patterns in the azimuth plane. Techniques for the enhancement of the bandwidths are discussed. The antennas can be designed for linear and circular polarizations.
