The dc-dc LLC resonant converter can achieve complete soft switching operation in all power semiconductor devices. However, the single phase and interleaved LLC resonant converter required large size smoothing capacitor in the output terminal because the output current ripple of the LLC converter is higher than other isolated dc-dc converter. To solve the problem, the three phase dc-dc LLC resonant...
Higher efficiency performances, lower EMI/RFI noise, and low cost boost converter have been required in power conversion system for Electric Vehicle, Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle. Recovery-less boost converter are satisfied all those demands, without active power switch. So far, recovery-less boost converter are proposed two method; with the auxiliary inductor type or the saturable inductor type...
In this paper, a voltage clamp circuit consists of diode and transformer, which reduces the transient peak switch voltage of the class E amplifier with single dc power supply, is proposed. This clamp circuit clamps the output voltage of the class E amplifier when the amplitude of output voltage goes over the maximum permissible value. Simulation results showed that the proposed diode clamp circuit...
This paper presents an analysis of characteristics of choke-input-type diode rectifier circuit on three-phase rectangular-voltage-fed distribution system. The validity of the analysis has been confirmed by experiments using the 2.4 kW prototype.
This paper clarifies the principle of the surge voltage in the diode rectifier that is connected to the transformer in the isolated DC-DC converter. In addition, the design method of the RC snubber circuit is discussed by using the equivalent circuit that is consisting of the transformer, the snubber circuit and the diode. Finally, the experimental results are provided to validate the design method.
An example of circuit design is presented on new concept 2-kVA ac voltage/current regulator with resistive load or inductive load. Any load power-factor is acceptable on inductive load. For output control and input PFC (power-factor correction), new devices “Variable Capacitance Devices” can be utilized. Small dc-dc converters are excellent high-speed driver for these devices.
The dual-active bridge (DAB) is a dc-dc converter, which offers several advantages especially in high-power applications. Besides bidirectional power flow and small filter size, the converter provides galvanic isolation via a medium-frequency transformer. The converter's inherent soft-switching capability promises very high efficiency due to the reduction of switching losses. In this paper, different...
In this paper, a comparison of a single-phase and a three-phase dual active bridge for electric vehicle application is presented. The converters are used to connect the traction battery stack with the 12V on-board power supply. The characteristic challenges are illustrated on the basis of an application with 2kW rated power. In total, three different design approaches are described and assessed using...
This paper is mainly concerned with the development of a new state-of-the-art prototype, high-efficiency, phase-shift, soft-switching, pulse-modulated, full-bridge DC-DC power converter with a high-frequency power transformer, which is designed for utility-grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) power inverters. The proposed high-frequency transformer (HFTR) link DC-DC converter topology is based on a new conceptual...
A large number of papers regarding Coupling Inductors (CIs) for interleaved parallel connected converter stages is available in literature. However, to the knowledge of the authors, a comprehensive summary of the basics and a description of the modeling and the experimental analysis, as well as the conditions which must be satisfied to avoid saturation of the CI's core are still missing. This paper...
