An auction mechanism consists of an allocation rule and a payment rule. There have been several studies on characterizing strategy-proof allocation rules; if the allocation rule satisfies a condition called weak-monotonicity, an appropriate payment rule is guaranteed to exist. One desirable property that an auction mechanism should satisfy is revenue monotonicity; a seller's revenue is guaranteed...
We present a method that utilises dynamic molecular modelling technique to track the changes within complex social network. The users forming a social network are interpreted as large sets of interacting particles. The data for the conducted research was obtained from e-mail communication within Enron company. The social network of employees was extracted and used to evaluate the methodology of social...
The article discusses the potential methods and benefits of the analysis of social networks hidden in the enterprise and personal email archives. A proof-of concept prototype was developed. Social network extraction and the spreading activation algorithm are discussed and evaluated.
We analyze email communications within a large company to reveal how email activity patterns depend on content. We characterize email contents using keywords and examine statistics of email transmissions. As a result, we are able to identify differences in network structures and propagation behaviors depending on the type of keyword.
The k-means method is a widely used clustering technique because of its simplicity and speed. However, the clustering result depends heavily on the chosen initial value. In this report, we propose a seeding method with independent component analysis for the k-means method. Using a benchmark dataset, we evaluate the performance of our proposed method and compare it with other seeding methods.
In this paper, we study the method of ranking intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. Firstly a possibility degree formula is defined to compare two intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. We prove the ranking order of two intuitionistic fuzzy numbers obtained by the possibility degree formula is the same as the one by using the score function defined by Chen and Tan. Moreover, the possibility degree formula can provide...
Linear Support Vector Machines(SVMs) have broad application in supervised classification problem with high dimensional feature space, such as text classification, word sense disambiguation, email spam detection and etc.. Considering the large volume of available training data, efficient training algorithm for linear SVMs draws many attention from the research community in recent years. Cutting-plane...
Representing web data into a machine understandable format is a curtail task for the next generation of the web. Most of current web pages are dynamic pages. A large percentage of these web pages get their contents from underlying database. This work proposes an approach to represent dynamic web pages into Concept Description Language (CDL) semantic format. This format does not depend on ontologies...
Rich information is scattered under Indonesian Choral Lovers (ICL) mailing list and many of its members prefer posting a query-mail to using the available search engine. A text retrieval system based on ontology is then proposed. However, considering the continual number of emails, developing an automatic ontology constructor (OC) will be the focus of the study while the retrieval system becomes an...
