We store optical data in acoustic waves on a planar waveguide based on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) and demonstrate for the first time that this coherent light storage concept allows for the simultaneous storage at different frequency channels, separated by 100 GHz, without observable cross-talk between the individual channels.
In this paper, we propose the mirror-symmetric Fano-like resonances which are generated by the interference between two resonant beam from through and drop ports of an add-drop microring resonator. While the path lengths of the two beams are different, small quasi-periodic spectral responses are nested in large periodic ones. The line shapes of the resonances are mirror images about the center wavelength...
Here we propose and demonstrate a new type of microsphere whispering gallery mode (WGM) resonator with microsphere-microsphere coupling. The coupler consists of a microsphere attached to a single mode fiber (SMF) tip by use of UV adhesive. The microsphere-microsphere coupling system is robust, compact in size, easy in fabrication and stable in operation and has good Q-factor of 4.72×103. The WGM resonator...
An x-cut millimeter-size lithium niobate whispering gallery mode disk resonator is demonstrated, which is fabricated based on commercially available lithium niobate disk with diameter of 12 mm and thickness of 1 mm. The Q factor is measured using the linewidth method, which is found to be Q=1.2×107, suggesting a very good condition of the WGM disk resonator. In addition, the transmission behaviors...
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a reconfigurable photonic RF differentiator based on a Kerr frequency comb generated in an integrated nonlinear microring resonator. The RF magnitude and phase responses are experimentally characterized. Systems demonstrations for Gaussian input signals are also performed.
A single-ended ultra-thin spherical microbubble fabrication method based on the pressure-assisted arc discharge was developed. The thickness of microbubble could be reached to 2 microns. Its deformation sensitivity was about 22pm/kPa and 10pm/kPa at different pressures. The Q value was 10e7.
