Analytical and experimental data are presented for a broadband (1–18 GHz) microwave photonic link featuring a novel linearized modulator. Because the input RF signal need only be applied to this linearized modulator's single set of electrodes, it suppresses nonlinear distortion across an inherently broad bandwidth.
Microwave photonic radiators provide wide bandwidths and high powers at mm-wave frequencies that can be utilized in extremely high throughput wireless communications, and high resolution millimeter wave imaging systems where their rugged, compact designs enable integration into large scale millimeter wave phased arrays. This work presents the design, implementation and measurement of a millimeter...
In this paper, we present a novel multiplexed optical interrogator for remote length measurement based on Low Coherence Interferometry. This technique exploits the benefits of Microwave Photonics to increase considerably the optical path difference (OPD) range and the system sensitivity compared to previous contributions.
We investigate the feasibility of an electroabsorption modulator integrated laser as a digital coherent transmitter. The laser and EAM sections are used as phase and amplitude modulators respectively. We discuss the challenges involved and demonstrate the combined phase and amplitude modulation on a commercial device.
