Constraint programming is one of the major contributions of computer science for solving problems of high complexity. This paradigm is used to represent a wide variety of problems that can be modeled like constraint satisfaction problems and solving them via constraint propagation and enumeration. In this work, we study the resolution of puzzles with this approach, we evaluate the performance of different...
In this work a new methodology for tracing the frequency response of a multirate system is presented, a multirate system being that in which different blocks appear operating with different sampling periods. Normally, lifting techniques are used to model this kind of system leading to multivariable systems and, in this way, the procedures from this environment are used to obtain the frequency response...
A wireless sensor and actuator network (WSAN) is commonly integrated by a large quantity of sensor nodes and a lower number of actuator nodes which communicate throughout the wireless medium providing distributed sensing and executing specific tasks according to the events monitored in a specific area of interest. The sensors are involved in monitoring the physical environment, while the actuators...
This paper describes a neurofeedback system for auxiliary diagnostic of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The design stresses ease of use and modification so that different interfaces can be added, and different signal processing procedures can be implemented as required. An isolated data acquisition system based on the MC68HC908GP32 microcontroller transfers the acquired EEG signals...
In this paper we design a controller for state feedback, of systems Euler-Lagrange, based on dynamic properties, and basically in stability of Lyapunov method. The control of systems Euler-Lagrange is an interesting topic, since historically the control of these, especially the mechanics (robots manipulators), it is based on technical extremely simple, as they are it the controllers PD, PID, etc....
This paper describes the design of a class D amplifier for hearing aid devices using PWM modulation technique. The new topology used to overcome offset problems promotes low power consumption and low harmonic distortion. The amplifier presents an efficiency of 93% with just 1.9% of THD, indicating a good compromise between efficiency and linearity.
Comparative studies for a single-phase TCR are presented in this paper using a time domain frame of reference. The dynamic nonlinear and time-varying behavior of a TCR is analyzed using well known commercial software used in the power systems and power electronics field, such as PSCAD/EMTDC and PSPICE, respectively. Furthermore, an efficient model reported in literature for the time domain simulation...
The correction methods for inertial navigation system of the "pig" are proposed in this paper. These methods are related with such sensors as inclinometers and potentiometers and provide independent information about the angles used for improving the final data position. These methods make it possible to design independent navigation systems for a sustained use inside of pipelines.
In this contribution we propose the use of intelligent op- timization methods in the search of initial conditions for the analysis of dynamic systems. The use of intelligent opti- mization methods provides a search tool that does not de- pend on the experience of the researcher in the particular system to analyze. An example of a dynamic system that models an electrical power system is provided. Three...
Assessment as a dynamic process produces data that reasonable conclusions are derived by stakeholders for decision making that expectedly impact on students' learning outcomes. The data mining methodology while extracting useful, valid patterns from higher education database environment contribute to proactively ensuring students maximize their academic output. This paper develops a methodology by...
In the last decade, numerous investigations over chaos theory applied had been published. Many areas are covered by these documents including communications, control, and theory of circuits amongst others. A wide range of applications have been proposed and each day there are more specialists in this matter. In this way, this document expects to be a summary of some of the most relevant characteristics...
Advanced data structures like concurrent queues, and generators are part of the standard distribution of interpreted languages like Python and Java. This kind of structures allows to manipulate information in a predictive manner if temporal behavior is bounded. This strategy can be fit into soft real time (SRT) performance. In here, a study of queued system based upon an operating system is presented...
This paper presents an algorithm for designing a fractional decimation system based on interpolated finite impulse response (IFIR) filter. The algorithm includes rounding and sharpening of the IFIR filter which design multiplierless decimation filter with the desired specification. Filter with no multipliers exhibits a low complexity which makes it a good candidate for Software Radio (SR) application...
In this paper we present a strategy for using the cellular network, and specifically the general packet radio service, to teleoperate a mobile robot. This allows the system user a wider mobility range and coverage. The system application is developed using Java programming language, implementing two teleoperation methods: predefined sequences and instant actions.
The present work proposes the application of diffuse systems in traffic lights, for the road control of urban transit in the city of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. Given the vehicular problematic of the city it is intended to look for options to make the vehicular traffic more agile, with this in mind three proposals of diffuse control design were formulated. These proposals are part of an interdisciplinary...
In this paper we present a technique for localized image regularization using a modified Hopfield neural network (MHNN). The algorithm forms a segmented map of the image and classifies it into several clusters, or regions, and assigns each region a regularization parameter according to its local statistics and the prior knowledge about the image obtained by a Bayesian minimum risk (BMR) restoration...
In the present article we presented an automatic speech recognition approach to identify initially four voice words using the energy of the signal through of LPC (linear predict coding) and finally neural networks as recognition and classification techniques of speech parameters. The identification of speech command was obtained with a back propagation multilayer perceptron (MLP). The characteristics...
We present a solution for an inverse heat transfer problem involving internal heat generation using artificial neural networks. The problem involves a heat conduction problem with internal heat source in cylindrical coordinates. The network is a feedforward with backpropagation algorithm. We compare the results with the Levenberg-Marquardt method and discuss advantages and disadvantages. The two methods...
The cost to develop real-time systems is still quite high, and off-the-shelf solutions are often difficult to adapt to many actual real-world problems. As part of joint research at the University of Guadalajara and the University of Colima in Mexico, an object-oriented control engine has been developed to enable quick creation of real-time systems with limited involvement of programmers and control...
This paper presents all the stages of development of a solar tracker for a photovoltaic panel. The system was made with a microcontroller which was design as an embedded control. It has a data base of the angles of orientation horizontal axle, therefore it has no sensor inlet signal and it function as an open loop control system. Combined of above mention characteristics in one the tracker system...
