The paper describes a technique for current harmonic reduction at the grid side of matrix converter controlled induction generator systems for application in gearless wind energy conversion system. A composite arrangement has been proposed where, multiple co-sinusoidal modulated matrix converter that are controlling induction generators are kept in parallel and connected to the grid with phase shifting transformers, which helps in reducing the current harmonics. This technique of harmonic reduction without the use of an additional filter component will have a great impact in cases like, wind farms having multiple generating units.
