Abrupt changes in crosspolar phase, in the region of 180?, and associated crosspolar signal nulls have been measured on a 30 GHz satellite?Earth slant path. Unlike previous reports, these changes were not associated with thuderstorm activity. Large differential phase shifts, typically 25?, are seen to be associated with depolarisation events which are unaccompanied by significant copolar attenuation.
