The problem of Slovaks living abroad gained actuality after 1918, when the Czechoslovak Republic was founded. Subject of research became the migrants to the USA, Canada, in particular living traditions of the Slovaks in Hungary, in the former Yugoslavia, in Rumania, Bulgaria, Poland, and also those living in Austria, France, Belgium, Argentina, Australia and last but not least after 1993 the Slovaks in the Czech republic. Ethnomusicological and ethnochoreological documentations, which are the content of the paper, have been started in the 60ties of the 20th century, especially field documentation in Hungary and the Vojvodina of Yugoslavia. The most important of the audio- and audiovisual documents have been made on the programs of the Slovak folklore groups coming from abroad to the folklore festivals, mainly to Detva. From this activities 50 dance-folklore documents, motion pictures and videos, made by the researchers from the Ethnomusicological department of the Institute of Musicology in cooperation with the Institute for Slovaks from abroad and the Matica slovenská, have been produced in the years 1968-1992. The list and characteristics of these documents is the subject of the paper.
