The article discusses the influence of the cultural dimension on the firm's internationalization, and the prospective internationalization strategies for firms, confronted with cultural differences. Based on the criticism of earlier research in this field in which the psychic distance concept has occupied a prominent position, the author suggests that focus should be placed on the firm's market-based ability to innovate. This ability is called the firm's intercultural competence.
