La diarrhée du voyageur (DV) représente le problème de santé le plus fréquent lors de voyage dans des pays en voie de développement. Si elle est le plus souvent spontanément résolutive, elle peut néanmoins causer une incapacité, voire une morbidité significative et devenir persistante, chez près de 3% des voyageurs de retour de zones à haut risque après un épisode aigu. Cet article discute des investigations et de sa prise en charge au retour de voyage, des mesures de prévention et de la gestion de la diarrhée lors d'un voyage.
Travellers' diarrhoea represents the most frequent health problem when travelling in developing countries. In most cases it is a self-limited disease. Nonetheless it can cause incapacitation and significant morbidity. It can become persistent in up to 3% of travellers who have suffered from acute diarrhoea in regions at high risk. This article discusses the investigations and the management of diarrhoea in returning travellers, preventive measures and its management during travel.
