In this paper, micro-spherical CoCO 3 powders have been synthesized through the hydrothermal method. The specific surface area is 1.48m 2 g −1 and the average diameter is about 5.0µm. Measured by the electrochemical tests as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, the high performance has been proved: the initial discharge and charge capacities are 1669.3mAhg −1 and 1099.8mAhg −1 at 200mAg −1 , and the discharge capacity retention ratio (vs. the second discharge capacity) is about 64.5% after 20 cycles, then the reversible capacity nearly keeps a constant between 700.0mAhg −1 and 600.0mAhg −1 from the 20th cycle to the 66th cycle. It indicates that the CoCO 3 powders maybe possess the potential application in this field.
