This paper deals with the policy laying at the foundation of the development of the National Power System (NPS) in Romania after the Second World War until now. The basic feature of the policy is the global approach over the topic of the NPS growth in Romania in point of finding the most favourable equilibrium related to the activities of designing, manufacturing, erection, repairing, etc. of the equipment and installations in the electrical power plants and in the energy distribution systems forming the NPS. The peculiarities of these equipments and installations made in Romania are briefly set forth herein.
