The basic indicators of the changes labelled as the demographic transition are: 1) the decrease in the number of members of the family and relatives of the same generation, as a result of changes in fertility, and 2) the simultaneous increase in the time-span of the members' co-existence, thanks to the substantial drop in the death-rate. As result of the demographic transition, the size and the demographic structure of the family net is subject to change.
