The paper reviews changes in the extent and content of the notion of specialist style. It draws inspiration from B. Havránek (1932), continues along its elaboration in the 50. (Fr. Trávnicek, Fr. Danes), at the turn of 60 and 70. (A. Jedlicka) and in the 90. (J.V. Becka, M. Jelínek, M. Cechová). The authoress defines the borders between specialist and administrative styles, relations between learning style with scientific and administrative ones, a position of aesthetic style and changes within the scientific style.
