This paper focuses on the issue of homelessness in light selected legal regulations. The goal of the article is to identify the fundamental legal concerns regarding homelessness and to suggest a desirable direction for new legal solutions. The author discusses the basic legal regulations which concern the issue of homelessness, describes the key elements of legal prevention of homelessness and shows the desirable direction for changes, in particular the need for a more personalized help and for enhancing the actions leading to social reintegration of the homeless. As far as the regulations regarding legal actions are concerned, the author underlines that those forms of legal actions should be used in a more flexible way. It is also crucial to adopt appropriate regulations applicable to specific stages of homelessness. The author postulates that the current social science research in the area of homelessness and homelessness prevention should be taken into account during the process of law-making.
