The author intends to map the Operation Krkonoše (implemented by the tank divisions of Czechoslovak People’s Army in the first decade of December 1980 in relation to the “Polish Crisis”) and through analysis of the controversial aspects to grip its meaning, which provokes questions about its background until this day. He tries to uncover the whole context in a different perspective than before and point out, on the specific aspects, that it might not have been a case of potential military intervention and that the manoeuvres themselves were of formal nature and a camouflage focus. This is largely the summary of information from the mediated and secondary archival sources, since a majority of the primary archival materials was shredded deliberately. The main mediated source (providing archival documents in processed form) comes from the Investigative Commission of the Deputies of the Parliament CR (investigating the Operation in 1993 - 1995) and The Office of the Documentation and the Investigation of the Crimes of Communism, which has amended the investigation file. The secondary source is represented by the supplementary funds from the military administrative archives in Prague or Olomouc and the Prague National Archive.
