The article presents some findings from the research concerning satisfaction of entrepreneurs from running their own enterprises. The study was conducted among owners of 370 micro and small firms operating in the Warminsko-Mazurskie voivodeship.

The paper shows foreign debt analysis for Polish companies, in particular including its amount, growth rate and importance in Poland's total liabilities. Moreover, the authoress points out a change of financial instruments' portfolio (which causes companies' foreign debt growth) and primary external conditions for companies to use external sources of development financing.
The capital and its role in financing innovation in the enterprise in Poland have been presented in the article. Innovation level in Poland is still low mainly due to a lack of an appropriate combination of financial instruments (financing system) related to insufficient share of private capital targeted at financing innovation.
