Poprawa wielkości i jakości zasobów wodnych w Polsce, należącej do krajów ubogich w wodę, staje się szczególnie ważnym wyzwaniem naukowym i politycznym w dobie pandemii wirusowej.
Improvement of the quantity and quality of water resources in Poland – one of the countries where the water resources scarcity is observed, becomes a particularly important scientific and political challenge in the time of the pandemic. The aspect of the major relevance is to ensure an access to good-quality drinking water for all residents. Also, as it has been previously reported in the journal, the condition of water treatment system still leaves considerably much to be improved. Furthermore, access to water adequate for agriculture and protection of lakes and marine waters from wide range of pollutants appears to be a challenge. Higher education system may face and significantly impact these challenges by supporting the development of environment al engineering and water engineering (hydrotechnics), chemistry and molecular biology. Currently, the number of students in these fields appears to be insufficient to meet the challenges posed in the field of water and environmental protection.
