Otoczenie polskich przedsiębiorstw, poprzez otwarcie się gospodarki polskiej na zagraniczną konkurencję oraz zjawisko globalizacji, nie odbiega zasadniczo od kontekstu, w którym znajdują się organizacje zachodnie. Współczesne firmy stoją więc przed wyzwaniami adaptacyjnymi, ponieważ zmiany rynków, klientów, konkurencji i technologii zmuszają do opracowywania nowych strategii, weryfikacji wartości i uczenia się. Jak zauważa P.F. Drucker: Zarządzanie w firmie, które nie będzie podatne na wszelkie innowacje, (...) w krótkim czasie przyczyni się do jej zniknięcia z rynku. [2]2, s. 38]. Jakkolwiek problematyka innowacyjności jest od dawna przedmiotem rozważań w nauce o organizacji i zarządzaniu, to generowanie i wdrażanie innowacji wiąże się nadal z szeregiem problemów. Konieczne są dalsze badania uwarunkowań innowacyjności, w tym struktury organizacyjnej. Z pięciu możliwych jej cech (jak specjalizacja, formalizacja, centralizacja, konfiguracja i standaryzacja) w niniejszym artykule omówiony zostanie wpływ stopnia centralizacji na innowacyjność przedsiębiorstwa.
Centralization of organizational structure - one of the most frequent causes of innovation factor was stated. Research hypotheses were presented, that define the influence of centralization on the innovation in an enterprise. The applied research method was described and the hypotheses were verified.
