The main goal of the work is presentation of new trends in optimization of complex metallurgical processes. The new, alternative optimization methods inspired by the nature ("natural methods "), as well as the metamodelling technique are presented. The "natural methods " are effective in localization of global extremum. The metamodelling approach allows minimization of the computation time in case, where the goal function requires time-consuming simulations. Applications of described methods to inverse analysis and to optimization of complex production chains are presented.
