This article focuses on the design of a 50MW thermo-solar power plant using parabolic trough technology to capture solar energy. The power plant will be located in the municipality of Sanlucar la Mayor, close to Seville (Spain). All aspects of the design of the power plant will be covered, ranging from the sizing of the features of the catchment field according to the area’s solar source, taking into consideration the choice of components, working flow and the required storage system. It will also analyse the power block and each of its stages and components, from the heat exchanger and turbine, to the refrigeration system and pump, considering the necessary electrical system.
