The paper discusses a 12-year history of the Polish branch of Heinrich Bauer's, the German Publishing House as well as its organisational structure, publishing and Internet activities. Bauer started operations in Poland in 1991. A total of 39 titles intended for various reader groups (women, men and teenagers) were launched by 2002. The authoress discusses 15 women's periodicals intended for a broad readership. The flagship periodicals are the weekly 'Tina' and the monthly 'Twoj Styl', the latter acquired in early 2002. Women's periodicals of the Bauer Publishing House enjoy high readership, are colour publications, have a high circulation, and are cheap and easily available.
