Penalty for verdure devastation (of trees, bushes, etc.) due to an inappropriate carrying out of construction work is as a rule inflicted on the executor of the construction work. However, one cannot exclude a possibility to inflict this penalty on the investor.
The problems of the threat to the monumental buildings and technical monuments by microorganisms and the part of microflora taken in the biodeterioration and degradation of monumental woodwork and sculpture are discussed. Also fungi are a great danger to the Wieliczka monuments which have been placed by UNESCO on the List of the World's Cultural Heritage.

This article is the first from the cycle devoted to the history of the preservation of nature and environment in Poland. The period of the original forms of the preservation of nature in the system of the regal priviledges of the ruler is presented (it is the period of the priviledges in the domains of the economic activity reserved exclusively for the ruler).
The author proves that the industry has dominated not only the labour market in Cracow but has also mastered its space in an inexorable way. Industrial plants, bases, stores and dumping grounds of post-industrial wastes have invaded the town area in an insubordinate to any rational principles way of shaping the urban space.
The author describes a very difficult period of the renovation of Cracow in the years 1979—1986 and presents the programme of protection and restoration of Cracow for the years 1986—1995. The reasons of shortcomings both of the current activities and of the future plans are discussed in detail.
Автор обсуждает усилия городских властей Кракова в пользу реставрации достопримечательностей. Кроме того полемизирует с взглядами тех специалистов, которые представляют идеализированный вид ревалоризации невозможен для осуществления в конкретной действительности города.
The league for the Preservation of Nature associates 1.7 million of members and it is the greatest ecological organization in Poland. After the reproaches concerning the low effectiveness of its activity, this organization has tried to seek new forms of activity (e.g. family groups, clubs, intervention groups).
All negative occurrences in the life of Cracow are connected with a too fast and uncosiderate development of the town. Therefore, it would be now difficult to think about the future of Cracow exclusively in the categories of an engilighted creative vision. First of all, the development of the town should be brought in harmony.
