Investigation on the vertical and horizontal propagation of nitrogen dioxide in the air in some districts of Szczecin is discussed. It has been stated that with the increase in the road traffic the concentration of NO₂ in the air becomes higher.
The vocabulary of the biological monitoring of pollution pertains mostly to the plant and animal species which respond to the environmental pollution. Some species (indicators) can only mark the presence or absence of pollution while others (monitors) offer a range of measurable responses.
The main guidelines of the management plan for the Tatra Mountains National Park are discussed. This plan was ratified by the People's Provincial Council in Nowy Sącz in 1986. Now it is up to the ecological organizations to follow the realization of this plan very closely to defend the interests of the environmental protection.

Exploitation of coat beds by the method of ''caving” has caused a rapid increase in the mining damage in the recent years. This is revealed in the forests as overflown lands or flooding which cause that the forest stand becomes extinct.
On the occasion of the fifteen years of publishing AURA the contents of the two first and that of the two last annual sets have been compared. The openness of discussions on the ecological topics has increased markedly, but unfortunately the effectiveness of solving the problems of environmental protection remains further on inconsiderable.
Takings as an example the Konin Basin the experience attained so far and connected with the development of the post-exploration grounds is discussed. There are four productive brown coal mines and three dormant ones there.
On the example of a secondary school programme the author shows how some parts of the teaching material refer directly to some important environmental problems. This concerns especially such subjects as thermodynamics, electromagnetic waves, nuclear physics and cosmonautics.
