The article discusses the financial system of higher education in the Czech Republic. At the beginning the financing trends of Czech higher schools in the years 1997-2005 are presented and subsequently: the current, general economic problems, the system of social benefits for students with the analysis of advantages and disadvantages of the existing mechanisms. The article closes with a chapter devoted to the reform of the system of higher education which has been initiated and to the new financing methods that are being planned.
