Optimal Pulse Generation for the improvement of ultra wideband system performance
Ultra-wideband (UWB) is a new promising technology that has the capability to revolutionize the field of wireless communications. It uses very narrow pulses, of the order of a few nano-seconds, in order to have very high data rate communications. These narrow pulses spread the energy over a wide frequency band, and hence the name ultra-wideband (also called Impulse radio). As one of the major concern while choosing a pulse shape for UWB communication is that it should meet the FCC emission mask requirements. So In this paper, we will study the spectral properties of UWB pulses. Firstly we analyze the UWB Pulse Generation and Power Spectral Density (PSD) of the Gaussian monocycle and then extends our study for finding optimal values of pulse shape factors for Gaussian derivatives in order to meet the requirements of FCC emission mask. Then we study the pulses obtained by Modified linear combinations and Least Square Error Combination of Gaussian derivatives for same, different and optimal values of the pulse shape factors. In the end we conclude the work based on the obtained results.
