A total of 93 lawsuits were brought against editors of 'Gazeta Grudziadzka' in the years 1894-1914, a majority of which were filed under paragraphs 185, 130, 110 and 360 of the Criminal Code of 1871. Fifteen out of the total of twenty editors were convicted. Sentenced to fines totalling 1240 marks and one-and-a-half years in prison, Boleslaw Sobiechowski was among those most frequently found guilty. Notwithstanding the threat of prosecution, all editors stood up for their beliefs and continued to express their views through the press.
