The authoress explains the key concepts associated with a new model of open access scientific publishing. Outlines its origins, assumptions, economic models and problems that are associated with its implementation. Gives examples of publishers who operate in an open access or a hybrid model and the titles of journals are in transition. At the end she lists the arguments for building such a model and the opening of science, gives practical advice on how this can be achieved.
